Royal Typewriter

The alternate title for this is “My Literary Output” because of late my output has been comparable to this. I found this Royal Typewriter while walking down by the creek. I was greatly amused, not only to find an old typewriter, but in pondering and imagining how it ended up sitting on the bank of the creek. Did some writer give up in despair, and leave it there? Its story is probably nowhere so interesting as I would imagine.

I find all of its little gears and wheels fascinating. It can look so complex, and yet from a simpler age at the same time. They don’t make computers that sturdy. But then, they don’t make typewriters with spell-check.

Now it will be my muse. I always wanted an old typewriter around, to give me character and airs. Or was it supposed to give the room character? Anyhow, I really would prefer an even older typewriter, and one that worked would be a bonus. Short of that, I will settle for what I have found.

I shall stare at it and . . .

. . . and think profound thoughts, I suppose.

Heh. It looks like the typewriter Dad owned when we got married. I wonder what happened to that? Maybe Grandma said she’d sell it at a flea market and didn’t, and then Grandpa chucked it down the creek bank? And then, years later, his grandson finds it?
